T-Mobile USA announced the expansion of its next-generation wireless network with the launch of 3G services in Las Vegas. The company proposes to continue the expansion of the 3G network to encompass about 20 additional markets by this year end.
“T-Mobile has invested over $37.5 million in infrastructure and spectrum for offering the 3G services to the Las Vegas market,” said Neville Ray, senior vice president, engineering operations, T-Mobile USA.
Ray continued, “Customers in Las Vegas are already accustomed to reliable and robust service from T-Mobile, which gets even better with this additional network availability. This investment in today’s 3G network also sets the foundation to help customers stay closer to their family and friends in new and exciting ways.”
T-Mobile’s 3G network in Las Vegas offers support to voice and data services according to the available services and handset offerings. T-Mobile offers multiple phones which can operate on the UMTS network. These phones are capable of automatically connecting to the best available network (3G or GSM/GPRS/EDGE) for offering good call quality and rich communication services required by customers.
Customers making use of a 3G-capable handset from T-Mobile will experience faster data speeds while accessing the Web or while downloading content from the T-Mobile t-zones content portal. T-Mobile proposes to offer its first HSDPA device with latest data-centric, all-in-one devices which will make maximum use of the T-Mobile high-speed data network. The launch of the 3G network in Las Vegas enables T-Mobile to serve more customers efficiently by using its AWS spectrum.
T-Mobile will launch the 3G services in major markets and the company plans to build upon its T-Mobile Hotspot Wi-Fi network which is a wireless high-speed Internet offering launched a few years back. In addition, the nationwide voice and data network will be used to empower customers to stay connected using the best available network.
